Multi-value cells are common to be used in an entry, such as the multiple goods items in an Invoice entry.

List View Ready

Each new worksheet is ready with an entry list view and a search box.
rapid database application development : ready-made list view and search box in each new worksheet.

instant database worksheet : multiple list views for each worksheet.

List views for the Sales Order worksheet : All, Delivered & Outstanding Items.

Filter boxes created for the Sales Order worksheet : Order date range, Customer & Article.

On-Screen Report

With a formula, display a summary based on the data in the current list view. The summary info changes dynamically as the range of data in the list view changes.
create instant database report by using a single formula to create a summary report of the data inside the current list view.

Data in the list view (the top part) is summarized in the info pane (the bottom left).

Document/Report Printout

It’s easy to create formatted Excel template, and then export data from BAU DB worksheet for document printout, report or presentation.
bau db links up spreadhseet and database together: pre-formatted excel spreadsheet report/document template

Simply put cell names in a formatted Excel worksheet to create the document template, data are then exported to generate the output document.

Entry with Picture

It’s ready to link pictures or files to an record entry
attach a picture to a database entry in the worksheet

Change the cell input type to “File” and the cell is ready for you to select a picture and display in Info Pane.

Apart from saving your data in an organized manner, these features automate your data and streamline your works — all created simply with a single formula :

Entry Number (Key Cell)

Each entry has an unique identifier, or key. The key can be set to any format with an auto increment number, or with parts of the key in connected with the data of the entry.

bau db is a entry-based application, each worksheet has an unique identifier as the key of each database record

For an Invoice entry, the unique identifier is Invoice No, with part of it retrieved from ‘Invoice Date’.

you can easily define default value of the unique identifier

Default identifier of a new worksheet.

Default Initial Value

Define automated value for a cell. It can be a fixed value or calculated by formula. In a multiple-row cell, the initial value can be a value related to that of the upper row’s cell.

As a convenient database tool, you can assign default initial value to each field

Use current date as the default value of the date fields.

just like using a spreadsheet, default value depends on the upper row values.

Default value is incremented by one to the upper row number.

Entry Selection List

With a formula, create an selection list for entry in a cell. The list of data can be retrieved from another worksheet or petty table.

You can develop application rapidly, use a single formula to create a list of items for data entry selection.

Create a list of available Order No. as workflow entry selection in the Invoice worksheet.

Create a list of articles for entry in the Order worksheet.

Auto Lookup and Calculation

Upon entry of a cell value, automatically fill in values in the other cells. The values can be calculated or retrieved from other worksheets. A formula can fill in multiple rows of values at a time.

using bau db is very much like using spreadsheet, you can use a formula to calculate or extract data from another database worksheet.

“Description” and “Unit” pop out upon entry of “Article No”.

it is a very handy spreadsheet feature, a single formula can fill in data in multiple rows.

Entry of Order No. triggers multiple order items moved into the Invoice worksheet.

Related Info

define a quick reference of data, use a single formula to display information related to the entry cell.

Display recent prices as the user is entering unit price of an item.

a feature that is more than a spreadsheet, display recent prices when user enter the price of an order.

Can also create related info in List View.

Entry Validation

Before saving an entry, it is checked against validation rules in the preset formulas. If it goes negative, warning or error messages will be displayed.

to ensure the entry data is complied with business rules, create validation rules using formulas.

Item quantity is checked against stock quantity, and a “warning” message is displayed.

an use case of rapid application development: when entering order qty, check if enough stock quantity.

When message type is “error”, the entry cannot proceed saving.

Data Processing

After saving an entry, execute a set of formulas to do some updating and processing on other data records in the database.
process data in other database worksheet with a set of formulas

Formula steps are displayed on the screen when the formulas are processed.
